Dear Research Colleagues -

I am sorry to share the news that Rodney Andrews, a research associate
in the NBER's Labor Studies program and a faculty member at the
University of Texas at Dallas, passed away yesterday.

Andrews' research ranged widely.  He was best known for his work on
education and labor market outcomes.  He studied the effect of pre-K
programs on subsequent educational attainment, the impact of financial
aid and other factors on the likelihood of college attendance, and the
heterogeneous nature of pathways to college. He was also the director of
the Texas Schools Project.

Andrews received his undergraduate degree from the Georgia Institute of
Technology and his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan.  He was an
active contributor to the NBER and to many other research communities,
and he will be deeply missed.
