2012 Columbia-Tsinghua Conference in International Economics

Stephanie Grohe-Smith (Columbia University and NBER)

Robert Staiger (Stanford University and NBER)

Martin Uribe (Columbia University and NBER)

Charles Wyplosz (Graduate Institute of International Studies and CEPR)

A subset of presented papers will be considered for a special issue of the Journal of Development Economics, with the same high standard as regular submissions though with an effort for an expedited review process.

Possible Topics:

The conference welcomes papers in all areas of international finance, trade, open-economy macroeconomics, and interactions among trade, finance, and macroeconomics.

Possible topics include but are not limited to: global trade and current account imbalances, structural imbalances and transformation, income and wealth inequalities, financial crises and international transmissions, overvalued or undervalued real exchange rates, new and old international currencies, regional and global financial governance, or regional and global free trade agreements.

Expenses and Submission Fees

Submission is free. Presenters will be responsible for their own travel and hotel, though Tsinghua University will assist with reservation at the conference hotel, Wenjin Hotel, http://www.wenjin.com.cn/, which is within walking distance from the conference venue on the campus of Tsinghua University.
