Dear colleagues:

First, let me thank Don Davis and Peter Schott for organizing the
chairing the summer institute this year. We especially appreciate
their innovation in introducing discussants, and ask that you
complete the e-mail survey at the end of this message.

Second, let me inform you of several future meeting dates:

Winter meeting, 2007 -- Nov. 30 - Dec. 1, at the San Francisco Fed
Spring meeting, 2008 -- March 28 - 29, in Cambridge
Summer institute, 2008 -- July 28 - 31 (which is the last week of the
SI in 2008)
Winter meeting, 2008 -- December 5 - 6, in San Francisco or Palo Alto

The 2008 dates are all preliminary, but most likely will not change.
Next year's summer institute will be organized by Peter Schott and
John McLaren.

Here are the survey questions on the summer institute this year:

1. Should we continue using discussants? If so, should they be given
any specific instructions on what to do (or not to do) or left unconstrained?

2. This year the authors had 45 minutes with the discussant having
15 minutes and questions from the floor invited throughout.

a) Should the time given to authors and discussants be maintained or
shifted towards one or the other?

b) Should separate time be reserved for more questions from the floor?

Please send your responses back to Robert Feenstra <rcfeenstra_at_ucdavis.edu>

                 Sincerely, Rob
