Re: RESIDENT SCHOLAR IN INTERNATIONAL ECONOMICS AT THE IMF

Dear Colleague,

I would like to bring to your attention a resident scholar position at
the Trade and Investment Division of the International Monetary Fund's
Research Department. The resident scholar will spend 1-2 years in the
division that could start as early as May 1, 2007.

* The primary responsibilities of the scholar are to engage in
high-quality, high-impact research in international economics,
contribute to some policy papers based on his/her expertise, and
interact with other members of the research department including
commenting on their research papers.
* The Fund pays a competitive salary plus benefits.
The IMF is an ideal place to pursue high-quality research. We have a
lively seminar series and many interesting visitors with a variety of
research interests, and enjoy proximity to the greater international
economics community in the Washington DC area. In addition, the
resident scholar will have access to data on disaggregated bilateral
trade and tariffs, and other databases from the WTO, the UNCTAD, the IMF
and the World Bank.

Current and past resident scholars include Nuno Limao, Phillip McCalman,
John Romalis, Wolfgang Keller, Arvind Panagariya, and Anna Maria Mayda.
Caroline Freund, Stephen Tokarick, Zhiwei Zhang, and myself are the
other members of the division. The Fund has a large number of other
active researchers and visiting scholars. Mick Devereux and Enrique
Mendoza are the other resident scholars currently in the research
department.

If you are interested in the position, please send an email to Patricia
Medina (pmedina@imf.org) by January 29, 2006, with a brief description
of your intended research, the desired period of visit and a vitae. You
are welcome to forward this information to other interested colleagues,
and contact any member of the division for additional information.

Sincerely,

Shang-Jin Wei
