Call for Papers: NBER International Seminar in Macroeconomics

Dear NBER IFM members,

I am writing to follow up on Rich Clarida's invitation for submissions to
the 36th Annual 2013 NBER International Seminar in Macroeconomics (see
below.) As Rich states, starting with the 2013 conference, the papers will
be published in a special issue of the Journal of International Economics.
Gita Gopinath will be the editor of the ISOM issue.

I want to encourage high quality submissions. My hope is that we can think
of the ISOM as something like an open-economy version of the
Carnegie-Rochester conferences that have been so successful, partly because
of their collaboration over the years with the Journal of Monetary
Economics. I believe that like Carnegie-Rochester, the ISOM can be a
successful venue for publishing high-quality topical papers. With input
from the ISOM organizers, the conference discussants, as well as Gita, we
can duplicate Carnegie-Rochester's success at putting out quality special
issues (with low rejection rates, since the acceptance of the paper for the
conference itself is an important pre-screening device.)

Sincerely,

Charles Engel
Editor, JIE
