NIH Funding Opportunity: Diffusion of Medical Technology & Effects

To: Members of NBER Health Care and Health Economics Programs,

NIA has issued a new funding opportunity for Cooperative Agreements
on "Diffusion of Medical Technology and Effects on Outcomes and
Expenditures (U01)." Proposals are due February, 28, 2103 with a
brief letter of intent is due on January 28, 2013. Note that this
funding mechanism is a bit different from regular researcher
initiated grants (R01s), so please refer to Section VI.2 (Award
Administration Information) in the full announcement for the guidelines.

This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) solicits U01 applications
for economic research designed to explain the diffusion of health
technologies both to understand trends in health outcomes and to
improve the process leading from scientific advances to health
benefits. Program Directors/Principal Investigators for projects
funded under this FOA are required to participate in a Steering
Committee that will help identify key strategies to support critical
research advances in this field.

Funding Instrument: "Cooperative Agreement:: A support mechanism
used when there will be substantial Federal scientific or
programmatic involvement. Substantial involvement means that, after
award, NIH scientific or program staff will assist, guide,
coordinate, or participate in project activities.
