NBER Working Paper Submissions

Everyone,

In December I wrote a program report for the spring 2009 issue of the NBER Reporter. In the course of doing this, I came across two papers in health economics by members of the NBER Health Economics Program that were not attributed to the program. Both of them were attributed to the Health Care Program. In one case several other programs were mentioned. From now on, I am requesting that, if you issue a paper in health economics as an NBER Working Paper, you attribute it to the Health Economics Program. I certainly do not mind if you attribute it to other NBER Programs as well as HE.

This message is not intended for HE program members who have primary affiliations in other programs. Most of these primary affiliations are in the Health Care Program and in the Children's Program. HE Program members also have primary affiliations in the Labor Studies program, the Public Economics Program, and the Aging Program.

Note that the Bureau sells partial subscriptions of WPs in hard copy. For example, a subscriber can purchase a subscription to all WPs in the Labor Studies Program. So the Bureau bears an additional cost if a paper is listed as LS and HE. But there is no additional cost in listing a paper as HE and HC because partial subscriptions to those two programs are sold as a package.
