Subject: Upcoming NIH Funding Opportunity

Date: Tue Feb 27 2007 - 10:44:37 EST

Dear members of the programs on aging, health care, health economics, and
children:

The notice below was published in this week's NIH Guide. It describes the
NIH plan to issue a funding opportunity this spring with a shorter
turnaround, and a shorter proposal, than the standard NIH grant
application. Review and funding is expected by September 30, 2007, for
these NIH Director's New Innovator Awards. They will be targeted toward
new investigators (terminal degree received 1997 or later) who propose
innovative approaches that have the potential to produce an unusually high
impact on significant problems in biomedical and behavioral research.
Awards will be for up to $300K direct cost per year. You can see the full
notification by clicking on the link at the end of this message.

We will forward a link to the request for applications when it is
issued. If I can answer any questions in the meantime, please do not
hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,
  --Joan Stillwell,
Program Administrator
