Dear P30 Directors,

Please circulate the attached description of the National Longitudinal Mortality Study (NLMS) to students and affiliates at your Centers.  The NLMS combines information from multiple years of the Current Population Survey, Annual Social and Economic Supplements, a subset of 1980 Census data and information from death certificates to form a valuable database for studying mortality in the U.S.  If you or your colleagues have any questions about the study or about accessing the data, please contact Norm Johnson at the Census Bureau ( norman.j.johnson@census.gov), Elizabeth Hamilton at NIA (hamiltone@mail.nih.gov), or any of the other contact people listed on the study description.

Thanks, Mary Beth
