Dear NBER Researchers -

I hope that you will join me in thanking the 124 organizers of the
54 meetings that made up the 2016 Summer Institute, which featured more
than 500 paper presentations. The meetings attracted 2,763 registered
participants from 440 institutions, and roughly one fifth of the
attendees were first-time Summer Institute participants. For those of
you who are already looking forward to the 2017 Summer Institute, the
meeting dates will be:

Week 1: July 10 - 14 Week 2: July 17 - 21 Week 3: July 24 - 28

Detailed schedules for each week will be posted in January.

Videos of three 2016 Summer Institute activities have been posted
on the NBER website:

* "The Dramatic Economics of the U.S. Market for Higher Education,"
Caroline Hoxby's Martin Feldstein Lecture:

were presented by Atila Abdulkadiroglu, Nikhil Agarwal, Itai Ashlagi,
Parag Pathak, and Al Roth:

I hope that these videos will be of interest to you and your students.

I would also like to report on a number of recent changes in NBER

very grateful to the many researchers who have taken on new
responsibilities.

Associate Director.

Thank you for your ongoing support of the NBER. I hope that you
will not hesitate to send me suggestions for enhancing the NBER's role
in conducting and disseminating economic research, and I wish you all
the best for the new academic year.
