Dear NBER Board Members, Researchers, and Staff Members -

I hope that you will join me in congratulating several NBER researchers
who today were honored by the American Economic Association.

Matthew Gentzkow, the Richard O. Ryan Professor of Economics and the
Neubauer Family Faculty Fellow at the University of Chicago Booth School
of Business, has been named this year's winner of the John Bates Clark
Medal. The prize citation highlights his work on "understanding the
economic forces driving the creation of media products, the changing
nature and role of media in the digital environment, and the effect of
media on education and civic engagement." Matt is a Research Associate
in the NBER's Programs in Industrial Organization and Political Economy.

The AEA also named three researchers with long-standing NBER ties to the
rank of distinguished fellow:

Robert Barro, the Paul M. Warburg Professor of Economics at Harvard
University, is a Research Associate in the Economic Fluctuations and
Growth (EFG), Monetary Economics (ME), and Public Economics (PE) programs;

Robert Gordon, the Stanley G. Harris Professor of the Social Sciences
at Northwestern University, is a Research Associate in the EFG,
International Finance and Macroeconomics, and Productivity, Innovation,
and Entrepreneurship programs;

Richard Zeckhauser, the Frank P. Ramsey Professor of Political Economy
at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, is a Research
Associate in the Aging, Education, Environment and Energy, Health Care,
and PE programs.

Further details on all of these awards may be found at

All best wishes.
