Dear NBER Researchers -

I am writing with several NBER-related items that I believe will be
of interest.

First, in the first issue of the _NBER Reporter_ each year, we
summarize the awards and recognitions received by NBER-affiliated
researchers during the previous calendar year. If you received an honor
in 2013 that you would like us to include in the _Reporter_, please send
an email to my assistant, Gerri Johnson (gjohnson_at_nber.org) by
Wednesday, February 12 with "2013 Awards" in the subject line and a
brief description of your award in the body of the message. To keep the
list of awards of manageable length, we do not include honors bestowed
by our researchers' universities, such as named chairs. If you shared
your award with other researchers, please note that in your message.

Second, to assist with your planning, let me provide some details
on the 2014 Summer Institute, which will take place between July 7 and
July 25. The detailed schedule may be found at

http://conference.nber.org/confer/2014/SI2014/SI2014.html

Please note two special events. On Thursday July 10, Dr. Stanley
Fischer, the former governor of the Bank of Israel and the Vice
Chair-nominee for the Federal Reserve Board, will be delivering the
Martin Feldstein Lecture. On Tuesday, July 22, Daron Acemoglu of MIT
and Matt Jackson of Stanford will be delivering our methodology lectures
on the topic "Theory and Application of Network Models."

Third, this Friday (February 7) is the deadline for nominating
potential new Faculty Research Fellows and Research Associates. If you
have a candidate to propose, but have not yet completed your nomination,
the easiest way to proceed is to find the email that you received from
Denis Healy on January 22, which included a personalized link to our new
web-based nomination tool. If you cannot find that message, you can
also send your nominee's c.v. and a brief nominating statement to Denis
Healy (dhealy_at_nber.org).

Fourth, I would like to welcome Kathryn Shaw of the Stanford
Graduate School of Business as she joins Eddie Lazear as a co-director
of the NBER Personnel Economics Working Group.

Finally, the AEA's Committee on the Status of Women in the
Economics Profession (CSWEP) has published the remarks from the memorial
program that the NBER hosted last April in honor of Anna Schwartz. The
link to the latest _CSWEP Newsletter_, which includes this material, can
be found at

http://www.aeaweb.org/committees/cswep/newsletters/CSWEP_nsltr_Fall_2013.pdf

All best wishes for the Spring semester. I look forward to seeing
you at the 2014 Summer Institute if not before.
