Dear NBER Family, Board, and Staff Members -
I hope that you will join me in congratulating three NBER
researchers who today were honored by the American Economic Association.
Jon Levin has been named this year's winner of the John Bates Clark
medal. The prize citation highlights Jon's work on contracting, the
organization and design of markets, sub-prime lending, and the design of
empirical methods for studying imperfect competition. Jon is a
Professor of Economics at Stanford, and a Research Associate in the
NBER's Industrial Organization Program.
Alan Blinder and David Wise have been named Distinguished Fellows of
the American Economic Association. Alan, the Gordon S. Rentschler
Professor of Economics at Princeton, is a Research Associate in the
Economic Fluctuations and Growth, and Monetary Economics, programs.
David, the John F. Stambaugh Professor of Political Economy at Harvard's
Kennedy School of Government, is the NBER's Area Director for Aging and
Health Economics, as well as a Research Associate in the Aging,
Education, Health Care, and Labor Studies programs.
    All best wishes.
Jim
