Dear NBER Board Members, Researchers, and Staff Members -

On Monday morning, the NBER's Business Cycle Dating Committee
announced that the U.S. recession that began in December 2007 ended with
a trough in economic activity in June 2009. The recession lasted 18
months, making it the longest in the post-war period.

If you would like to learn more about the dating process that was
used to determine the start and end dates of this recession, you might
wish to consult the Committee's statement:

The Committee has also prepared a list of FAQs that you might find
informative:

     All best wishes.
