Dear NBER Family Members:

I am very grateful for the many helpful suggestions for improving the
functioning of the NBER that many of you have sent me during the last
year. Some suggestions have been for new initiatives, while others have
been for changing or even eliminating existing practices. I hope that
you will continue to share your inspirations with me.

One suggestion that I have received with some frequency is to
discontinue production of the NBER pocket calendar. While some regard
this paper calendar book as a relic of the pre-electronic era, I have
discovered that others cherish it and find it very helpful. To
accommodate this heterogeneity in views, this year we will send pocket
calendars only to those who request them. If you would like to receive
a 2010 calendar book later this year, please visit the link below, type
in your name, and click submit. Please reply no later than July 15. If
you are not interested in receiving a calendar, you need not take any
action.

I trust that you will truthfully reveal your preferences! All best
wishes - I look forward to seeing you at the Summer Institute if not
before.

Jim
