Dear NBER Family and Board Members:
I hope that you will join me in congratulating Paul Krugman, who this morning was selected as the 2008
recipient of the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Science. The Nobel committee cited Paul's path-breaking work
in both international trade and in economic geography in making this award. Paul has been an NBER Research
Associate since 1979, and has long been an active participant in Bureau program meetings and related research
activities. In fact, one of his blog entries fondly recalls the warm reception that he received when he
presented one of his very influential papers on trade with monopolistic competition at the 1979 NBER Summer
Institute. All best wishes.
Jim
