Subject: New Summer Institute Minicourse: What's New in Econometrics?

We are offering a three day minicourse on developments in cross-section
econometrics during the NBER Summer Institute on July 30, 31 and August
1st. This course is intended for NBER Research Associates and Faculty
Research Fellows as well as others who are attending the NBER Summer
Institute.

I am pleased to say that Guido Imbens and Jeff Wooldridge have agreed to
teach this course. This will be an intensive course with 6 hours of class
a day for three days. The material will focus on developments in cross
section methods during the past ten years. The emphasis will be on how
these methods are used and their properties rather than formal derivations
and proofs.

The topics to be covered include clustering, recent developments in panel
data, dynamic panel data models, program evaluation, instrumental
variables, matching, regression discontinuity methods, difference in
differences, weak and many instruments, empirical likelihood, discrete
choice models, bayesian methods, models with partial identification,
bootstrapping, quantile methods, and missing data.

Please reply via email through the Conference Department's web reply form
at <<replyurl>>. Please respond as soon as possible so we can make sure
we have housing for you. You will also receive your customary Summer
Institute invitations as programs come to us over the next month. Because
this workshop is new, we wanted you to know about it right away.

Coffee and pastries as well as lunch will be provided each day.

Further Summer Institute information, including updated programs can be
found on the Summer Institute 2007 page at

Papers scheduled for presentation will also be available on this site.

For participants traveling to Summer Institute, the NBER will reimburse
some of your travel and/or housing expenses for one Summer Institute
trip. Please see the Summer Institute Travel Regulations at
www.nber.org/~confer/2007/si2007/traveregbs.html for reimbursement details.

ALL SUMMER INSTITUTE PARTICIPANTS WILL RECEIVE A CONFIRMATION LETTER PRIOR
TO THEIR WORKSHOP(S). PLEASE READ YOUR CONFIRMATION CAREFULLY AS IT WILL
CONTAIN IMPORTANT INFORMATION CONCERNING HOUSING, REIMBURSEMENT, AND WHICH
WORKSHOP(S) YOU ARE OFFICIALLY REGISTERED FOR. IF ANY OF THE INFORMATION
ON YOUR CONFIRMATION IS INCORRECT OR IF YOU DO NOT RECEIVE A CONFIRMATION
LETTER TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO YOUR WORKSHOP, PLEASE CONTACT SOMEONE IN THE
NBER'S CONFERENCE DEPARTMENT IMMEDIATELY.

We hope you will be able to join us this summer. If you have any
questions, please contact Rob in the NBER's Conference Department at
