POST DOC ANNOUNCEMENT
This post-doctoral fellowship is intended to support empirical research on economic issues related to primary health care services in medically underserved communities, as well as interventions aimed at reducing racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic disparities in population health and access to health care. Specific research interests can encompass a variety of topics or other aspects of health care markets, e.g, labor economics, public economics, or industrial organization. Candidates must have strong empirical skills, a promising research agenda, and a desire to work in a collaborative environment that emphasizes research responsive to societal concerns. The fellow will also have the opportunity to further develop a research agenda, teach, and become a fully engaged member of the Department.
The George Washington University School of Public Health and Health Services is ideally located in the Foggy Bottom neighborhood of Washington DC, in close proximity to Capital Hill, The World Bank, NIH and other institutions where collaborative opportunities may exist. Similarly, there may be opportunities to collaborate with other departments at the university such as economics and public policy.
Candidates with strong empirical skills and a promising research agenda are encouraged to apply. The position is ideally suited for strong candidates who completed their Ph.D. dissertations, but prefer to hone their research prior to entering the formal job market. However, applicants near completion of their dissertation will also be considered. The fellowship comes with a competitive package, covering both salary and benefits. It is anticipated that the position would be granted for two full years, with a long term opportunity to achieve full faculty status.
