A few days ago I sent you a WSJ op ed in which I comment on the Tax Policy
Center's critique of the Romney tax plan. I received a number of comments
and decided to write a reply to the substantive points raised in those
comments. The reply is attached. I won't publish it but wanted to send it
to some who might be interested in the debate.
I find that even if I modify the assumptions in my calculations to reflect
the critical comments my original conclusion still stands: the Romney
income tax cuts can be financed by broadening the tax base for high income
taxpayers without adding to the deficit or raising taxes on the middle
income taxpayers.
