Fifth Annual Conference on Macroeconomics Across Time and Space
(Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia and the NBER)

May 13 and 14, 2011, Philadelphia, PA

The fifth annual meeting of the "Macroeconomics Across Time and
Space" working group will be held at the Federal Reserve Bank of
Philadelphia on May 13 and 14, 2011. The aim of the group is to bring
together the large number of researchers in aggregate economics who
are using modern dynamic theory to investigate substantive historical
questions. Research presented at past meetings covered a very broad
range of topics, including analyzes of great depressions; industrial
revolutions; the diffusion of new technologies; secular shifts in
hours worked and leisure; long-run trends in marriage, women's labor
supply and fertility; the connection between the formation and
dissolution of institutions and the economy; the rise in
urbanization; trends in international trade and capital flows; the
growth and location of business; the evolution of finance and its
role in economic development.

There will be two keynote speakers at the conference: Richard
Rogerson, Princeton, and Robert M. Townsend, MIT.

Those interested in presenting at the conference should submit their
paper to Monica Wiley-Curtis by Sunday, March 27, 2011. No
submissions will be considered after this date.
