CALL FOR PROPOSALS

Innovation and Technology Adoption

April 2003

The Carnegie-Rochester Conference on Public Policy is soliciting papers for
a conference on "Innovation and Technology Adoption." The Conference will
be held at the William E. Simon School of Business Administration,
University of Rochester, on April 25-26, 2003. The papers and comments will
be published in as special issue of the Journal of Monetary Economics in
January 2004.

Submissions are invited on any issues related to innovation and economic
performance. The innovation and adoption of new technologies is a critical
element in determining the paths of economic development. Topics that might
be appropriate include property rights and patent policies, innovation and
productivity, the economic and social forces that influence technology
adoption and the impact of macroeconomic policies on innovation and
technology adoption.

The editors invite detailed abstracts of no more than two pages describing
the proposed research paper. (If a preliminary version of the paper is
available authors may include it with their abstract.) Submissions should
be submitted electronically to Sue North <mailto:north@simon.rochester.edu>
, Editorial Assistant for the Journal of Monetary Economics no later than
July 15, 2002. The editors, in collaboration with the Carnegie-Rochester
Advisory Board, will make the final selection of papers to be included in
the Conference. Authors will be notified by July 31, 2002 if their paper
has been selected. Authors will receive an honorarium of $2500 and be
expected to present their paper at the Conference. The papers should
represent original research not presented or published elsewhere. Since the
papers will be published, the authors will not be able to publish or reprint
the work elsewhere without the permission of the editors and publisher. The
editors will contact authors only if their paper is accepted.

Feel free to pass this announcement on to anyone that might be interested.
