Dear Environmental and Energy Economics Program Members :

Don Fullerton, who launched the EEE program in 2006 and has served as
its director for the last nine years, has informed me that he plans to
step down from this role when he reaches the ten year mark next summer.
Don has played a central part in building an intellectually vibrant
program and in shaping the NBER's activities that relate to energy and
environmental issues. I am very grateful to Don for his outstanding
leadership, his hard work, and his dedication to advancing the EEE
program.

Please save Thursday evening, April 14, 2016 -- the first day of the
spring EEE program meeting in Cambridge -- for a festive dinner when we
will gather to thank Don for his program leadership. Ihope that you
will make every effort to attend. Further details will be included with
the meeting invitation in early 2016.

In the coming months, I plan to reach out to many EEE program members to
solicit advice on selecting the next program director. I hope that you
will not hesitate to contact me and to share your views about the
essential attributes of Don's successor. I would also welcome
suggestions about potential candidates who might be well suited to this
role.

Thank you for your advice and input. All best wishes.

Jim Poterba
