Dear NBER EEE Colleagues,
Duke Kunshan University (DKU) will open its doors next fall. DKU is a
new joint-venture university created by Duke University, Wuhan
University, and the city of Kunshan, China. It is located in the Chinese
"Silicon Valley" between Shanghai and Suzhou. It will start small, with
an initial focus on master's degree programs, one of which will likely
be in environmental policy, and undergraduate non-degree programs. Other
programs, including undergraduate degrees and PhD programs, will be
added over time. The language of instruction will be English, and the
student body is expected to be a mix of students from not only China but
also other countries from around the world. More information on DKU can
be found at http://dku.edu.cn/
Courses at DKU will be taught by a mix of DKU's own faculty, visiting
faculty from Duke, and visiting faculty from other universities. DKU has
already hired several faculty members in global health, and it is now
recruiting a faculty member in environmental policy. This is an
open-rank position; the hire could be made at the level of assistant,
associate, or full professor, depending on candidates' experience and
qualifications. Although the position is at DKU, not Duke, the intention
is to hire a person who will be qualified to receive an adjunct position
at Duke and will collaborate actively with Duke faculty. I have attached
the position description.
Economists are strongly encouraged to apply for this position. Would you
mind forwarding information on it to anyone you think might be interested?
Thanks,
Billy
