Dear EEE members,

Our portion of the NBER Summer Institute will be held in Cambridge July 22-23 (organized by Maureen Cropper and Rob Williams). About 100 attended in past years, but last year the number jumped 155. Thus, we are now making concerted efforts to cut the invitation list. We will reserve space for a dozen grad students, but we no longer have EPA funding to pay for their travel. Use of your own funds to pay for travel of a grad student is terrific, but EVERY GRAD STUDENT NEEDS AN INVITATION TO ATTEND WHETHER OR NOT THEIR TRAVEL IS COVERED AND WHETHER OR NOT THEY LIVE IN CAMBRIDGE.

We don't have space for more than one grad student from any one university. To help us select which one from your university, please coordinate with your other environmental colleagues and agree on one student to nominate. A condition is that you must accompany any chosen student to the Summer Institute. If you will not be attending, then do not nominate anyone. Please indicate if you or someone is paying for their travel. Selected students can also submit a request to present a five-minute egg-timer. We will give preference to those who will be going on the market.

Send your nomination by May 15 to Maureen Cropper (cropper_at_econ.umd.edu) or Rob Williams (roberton3_at_gmail.com). Please indicate (1) the names of other faculty at your university who jointly nominate this candidate, (2) a few sentences about why he or she is a good choice to attend the SI, and (3) that you will be attending with the nominee. Thanks for your help! Don
