EEE colleagues-

I want to bring RFF's fellowship programs to your attention. Many EEE members are past recipients of one or more of these fellowships, but I'd like to encourage more of you to apply (and to encourage your grad students to apply). These programs include:

-Gilbert White Postdoctoral Fellowship: Despite what you might infer from the name, this isn't a standard postdoc. It typically brings a professor to RFF for his/her sabbatical year. So if any of you are interested in spending a year at RFF, this fellowship can help support that.

-John Krutilla Research Stipend: This is for junior faculty (applicants must have received their PhDs within the last six years). It provides funding to support environmental and resource economics research (which can be used for summer salary or other research expenses). The award amount is modest, but it has very few strings attached.

-Joseph Fisher Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship: For your grad students: a one-year fellowship for students completing their dissertations (i.e., in their final year of grad school). In the past, the stipend for this fellowship was reduced dollar-for-dollar by any other financial support a student had -- so students with other financial support had little or no incentive to apply. But new this year (new enough that it's not even in the fellowship announcement yet), the fellowship will still provide at least a small stipend (exact amount still to be determined, but in the range of $2,000-$3,000) even for students who have another full fellowship for the year. The idea behind that change is to encourage all of the top environmental/energy/resource grad students to apply.

-Walter Spofford Memorial Internship: For students interested in Chinese environmental issues. Pays for a summer internship at RFF.

The application deadline for these fellowships is coming up very soon -- the deadline is Feb. 22. For more information, see http://www.rff.org/About_RFF/Pages/Fellowships_Internships.aspx And I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have.

Thanks,
Rob
