TWO DAYS OF ENERGY RESEARCH AND POLICY, MARCH 19 and 20, 2009

The University of California Energy Institute's
Center for the Study of Energy Markets (CSEM)
announces the

  Fourteenth Annual POWER Research Conference
CALL FOR PAPERS
This year CSEM is expanding the POWER research conference beyond electricity markets. Friday, March 20 will be our traditional Research Conference on Electricity Markets and Regulation. The day before, Thursday March 19, will use a similar format, with research presentations and policy discussions, but will cover the broader energy landscape and the environmental impacts of energy use.

CSEM invites interested researchers to submit papers for either day of the POWER Research Conference. The Conference will be held in Berkeley at the Clark Kerr campus of U.C. Berkeley.

For March 19, papers are invited on topics including, but not limited to:
* Oil Market Supply, Demand and Pricing
* Wholesale and Retail Markets for Refined Petroleum Products
* Alternative Transportation Fuels
* Natural Gas Market Supply, Demand and Pricing
* Wholesale and Retail Markets for Natural Gas
* Effects of Environmental Controls of Energy Markets

For March 20, papers will be more focused on electricity industry issues, including, but not limited to :
* Impact of Economic and Environmental Regulation on Electricity Markets
* Retail Pricing and Policies
* Transmission Investment and Pricing
* Wholesale Market Design and Organization
* Financial Instruments and Trading
* Resource Adequacy and Capacity Markets
* Control of Greenhouse Gas Emissions Resulting from Electricity Usage
* Market Power and Monitoring

Draft papers (electronic submissions in pdf format) should be sent by December 19, 2008 to:

Abstracts, speeches, and PowerPoint presentations will not be accepted. Authors will be notified concerning acceptance for the Conference by January 23, 2009. Final papers will be due by March 2, 2009.
