Dear Education program members,

This is a reminder (as though I do not give you sufficient ones
already at program meetings!) to consider applying to IES for support
for your research. It is especially likely to be funded if it makes
uses of a randomized design, regression discontinuity, or another
method that has been recognized as more likely to be rigorous by IES.

If you apply to IES through the NBER, there is very substantial
support for you in the application process. They will make things very
easy for you.

Currently, IES is looking especially for proposals on state and local
policy interventions. The next deadline for IES proposals is October
2, 2008 and there are other deadlines in 2009. You can find details
at the following webpage:
http://ies.ed.gov/ncer/funding/

If you are asked to participate in an IES review panel, please do
consider saying yes. Your expertise can be very helpful to the review
process.

All good wishes, Caroline
