NBER SI submissions & SI more generally

Dear Economics of Education program members,

It has come to my attention that the NBER website is no longer accepting submissions for NBER Summer Institute, at least for the Economics of Education. I apologize for this because we are supposed to be accepting submissions through today.

No worries, though! You can send me your submission directly and it will go into the pool. Or, if the website gets fixed, you will be able to upload it there. Either way, I will ensure that no paper that is submitted is omitted from being considered. Do not be overly worried about submitting a bit late, given the glitches.

You might wonder how we are going to conduct Summer Institute this year. Well, I cannot promise an in-person clambake in Cambridge, but I am still hoping for one. If we do not end up with one, then I am hereby promising to try to send clambake equivalents to everyone who would like to share our usual summer conviviality. (Caroline's expense will not be spared but notice that I used the word "try" in my previous sentence since I do not know what I will in fact be able to do in July.)

For now, you can rest assured that there will be a Summer Institute. How exactly it will work is less clear, but NBER President Jim Poterba and I have been discussing various possibilities for our program meeting, and I am sure that we can make it work.

Try to stay healthy and to stay safe,

Caroline Hoxby
