RE: Summer Institute 2016 - Call for Papers

It is that time of year when we start planning for the NBER Summer
Institute. The Development of the American Economy workshop will take
place from July 11-14, 2016 at the NBER's office, 1050 Massachusetts
Avenue in Cambridge, MA.

Charles Calomiris, Karen Clay and Trevon Logan will be organizing
this year's workshop. As always, we would like to have a range of
topics covered. This year we are organizing two types of sessions:

1) Regular sessions (50 minute presentations)

2) Egg-timer sessions (5 minute presentations without Q&A). The
egg-timer sessions were introduced last year and were well
received. They are a way to advertise work in progress and provide
more people with an opportunity to showcase their work. We plan to
pick 10-12 for inclusion in a special session. Time limits will be
strictly enforced.

You can apply for either or both sessions. If you have a paper that
you would like to present, please upload a copy of your paper,
proposal or detailed abstract here by March 25,
2016: http://www.nber.org/confsubmit/backend/cfp?id=SI16DAE.
Submissions need not be completed papers. Please note in the
comments section of the submission page if you would like your paper
considered for the egg-timer session as well.

If you have a presentation that you would like to present at the
Egg-timer (5 minutes per presentation) session, please upload a copy
of your abstract here by March 25,
2016: http://papers.nber.org/confsubmit/backend/cfp?id=SI16DAEe

You should also feel free to suggest interesting papers by those
outside the DAE program, especially those by junior colleagues who
might benefit from exposure to the NBER (and vice versa). Invitations
and logistical information will be sent out by early May.

If you have questions regarding other aspects of the Summer
Institute, please contact Rob Shannon in the NBER's Conference
Department, 617/868-3900 or rshannon_at_nber.org
We look forward to seeing you all in Cambridge.
