To All in the DAE Program Family:

Warm greetings.

The DAE Summer Institute (July 8-11) is almost upon us and we have the team of Hoyt Bleakley, Carola Frydman and Gary Libecap to thank for the excellent program. The schedule has a great mix of topics, lots of graduate student posters, and a trip on Wednesday to the Sonesta to celebrate (the first) 100 years of the Federal Reserve System. The DAE Spring Program meeting 2014 has been scheduled for Saturday March 1. If you ever forget a date for a conference just check the listing on-line. To get there type /confer after the NBER URL.

I am, just now, getting ready for our annual DAE program review with Jim Poterba. Jim asked if we could be early this year (he insists that ours is the standard by which all others are compared). So I will need your information in the next two weeks to compile my pithy statements about each of you. The entire review takes just an hour and since we have about 80 members, please limit your update to be a few paragraphs. E-mail me a succinct summary of your recent work, work-in-progress, planned or current grants through the NBER, and current NBER conferences or conference ideas. If you have any advice for DAE innovations please let me know (I'll give you another paragraph for that).

Each year I give you a personnel update. I am delighted to report that Walker Hanlon (UCLA), Carl Kitchens (University of Mississippi) and Nicholas Ziebarth (University of Iowa) have recently accepted the invitation of the NBER Board to be NBER FRFs and that Dan Sichel (Wellesley College) will be an RA in our program (joint with the Productivity program). Melissa Dell (Harvard) joined as a FRF in July 2012.

Looking forward to seeing many of you in July.

Best wishes,

Claudia
