To all DAE Family Members:

I have attached a preliminary version of the 2010 DAE Spring Program
Meeting. I'm very excited about the meeting. There are four terrific
papers and two sessions on housing and mortgage markets, government
regulation, and financial crises in history. Many of you submitted superb
papers for the session and I thank each of you for contributing to the
liveliness of our group. Some of these papers will be presented at our
Summer Institute (being planned by Leah Boustan, Naomi Lamoreaux, and Paul
Rhode). The call for papers for the SI will be sent out in about a month
or so.

Attendance at the DAE Spring Program Meeting and the Summer Institute is
the primary way of interacting with members of the DAE. Such interactions
are the lifeblood of the NBER. Each of you contributes in a different way
to the DAE. Attendance at meetings, I know, is only one part of your
contribution. But attendance is so important that Jim Poterba and the
program directors have decided that membership in a program may be
contingent on a modicum of attendance. If you have not attended a Spring
Program Meeting in a while, consider attending this one. Lack of
attendance at the PM and SI for several years will be considered an
indication that you no longer want to be part of the group. Membership in
the group means interacting with other members and there is no better place
to do that than the PM and SI.

I'm looking forward to seeing each of you at the Spring Program Meeting on
Saturday February 27, 2010.

Regards,

Claudia
