To All Members of the NBER-DAE:

I'm looking forward to seeing you during our Summer Institute. In
preparation for that event, I would like some information from you (even
from those who cannot make the SI). Most of you know that I request this
information every year in advance of my meeting with Marty to review the
DAE. Let me emphasize that I want just a few sentences, no more. The
pithier, the better.

1. Describe your current research questions and/or topics (2-3
sentences will do).
2. What grants do you have (give granting agency or foundation)
through the NBER? through your home institution?
3. What grants will you be applying for in the near future? Mention
whether the grant will be through the NBER.
4. Do you have any nominations for Faculty Research Fellows? (N.B.:
Individual must be non-tenured, generally with Ph.D. for no less than 1
year.)
5. Do you have any suggestions for NBER conferences? If so, do you
know of any funding sources for such a conference?

Please feel free to respond to these questions via e-mail.

News Items: Most of you know that several individuals have, within the
past two years, been appointed as FRFs in the DAE. They include: William
Collins, Rebecca Menes, Randall Krosner, Peter Rousseau, and Melissa
Thomasson. (Furthermore, several FRFs who received tenure at their
universities became RAs.) Finally, Gavin Wright, who is currently a
director of the NBER, was made an RA of the DAE, a position that he can
assume as soon as his term as director ends. In the meantime, he is most
welcome to join us at any DAE meeting.
