Dear Colleague:
The Annual Health Economics Conference (AHEC) is a small invitational conference designed to facilitate exposure and discussion of cutting edge research in health economics. This year, the Martindale Center for the Study of Private Enterprise and the Department of Economics at the Lehigh University College of Business and Economics is pleased to host the 21st Annual Health Economics Conference, on October 15th and 16th, 2010.
A small number of papers (10-12) will be selected for the conference and a significant amount of time will be devoted to each to facilitate in-depth discussion. We invite both theoretical and empirical papers on health economics topics, and encourage participation of economists in all fields whose current research focuses on health care issues. We will aim for a mix of scholars-both young and experienced scholars, established and new to the field. Papers will be chosen based on their originality, degree of innovation, and rigor. We would like to devote part of the conference to our theme in health financing reform and universal coverage so especially encourage submissions in these areas.
Attached is the Call for Abstracts; please share it with your colleagues. Also, we invite you to review the conference web site for more information: http://www.lehigh.edu/martindale/programs/2010AHEC.html . Meals for presenters and discussants will be covered by the Martindale Center and other co-sponsors. All other expenses, including hotel accommodations and transportation, are the participants' responsibility. Exceptions may be made if these expenses represent a significant barrier in attending. Lodging expenses may be paid contingent on our obtaining external funding.

Individuals wishing to present a paper should submit an abstract (maximum of two pages) by July 1, 2010, in an electronic format (PDF preferred) to the conference email address inLUahec_at_lehigh.edu<mailto:inLUahec_at_lehigh.edu> . Please include "Abstract submission" in the subject line. Submitted papers should be unpublished.
Those invited to participate in the conference will be notified by July 31, 2010. Completed papers must be received by September 15, 2010. For further information, please feel free to contact Prof. Art King, PhD (art.king_at_lehigh.edu<mailto:art.king_at_lehigh.edu>) or Prof. Shin-Yi Chou (syc2_at_lehigh.edu<mailto:syc2_at_lehigh.edu>).

We look forward to receiving your abstract!
Sincerely yours,
Professors Art King, PhD, and Shin-Yi Chou, PhD,
and the AHEC 2010 Planning Committee
