Dear Corporate Finance Program Members -

I am very grateful to the many program members who have spoken with me
since Malcolm Baker announced last summer that he was ready to pass the
baton of program leadership.  I have learned a great deal about the
factors that have contributed to the program's success, the challenges
that may lie ahead, and the current developments in the various research
areas that come together under the Corporate Finance banner.

I am delighted to announce that Antoinette Schoar and Amir Sufi have
agreed to serve as co-directors of the Corporate Finance Program,
effective this month.  Antoinette's research spans many issues,
including venture capital, entrepreneurship, household finance, and
financial intermediation.  She is the Michael M. Koerner (1949)
Professor of Entrepreneurial Finance at the MIT Sloan School of
Management.  She has been a member of the CF program since 2001, and she
also directs the NBER Working Group on Entrepreneurship.  Amir, the
Bruce Lindsay Professor of Economics and Public Policy at the University
of Chicago Booth School of Business, has similarly wide-ranging
interests.  His work focuses on issues in corporate finance and
macroeconomics, including the systemic effects of household debt, the
links between financial markets and real activity, and the determinants
of corporate leverage.  He has been a program member since 2009.  I look
forward to working with Antoinette and Amir to build on the Corporate
Finance Program's past successes and to launch new initiatives.  Please
welcome them to their new roles.

I also hope that you will join me on the evening of Friday, April 6,
2018, in Chicago, when I will host a dinner at which we can collectively
thank Malcolm for his service as program director. The dinner will
follow the CF program meeting that day.  I look forward to seeing you
there; all best wishes.

Jim Poterba
