Dear Corporate Finance Program Members -

Malcolm Baker, who has served with great distinction as the director of
the Corporate Finance program for the last six years, has decided to
step down from this role at the end of the current calendar year. He
has done a terrific job; his broad interests, energy, and good judgement
have benefited not just the CF program but the NBER more generally. I
hope that you will join me in thanking him for his outstanding program
leadership.

In the next few months, I will reach out to many CF program members to
solicit advice on selecting Malcolm's successor. I hope that you will
not hesitate to contact me and to share your views about what has made
Malcolm's program leadership so successful, about important attributes
for his successor, and about significant directions in research activity
that may bear on this choice. I also welcome your suggestions about
candidates who might be well suited to this role.

I look forward to your input. All best wishes.

Jim Poterba
