Dear NBER Researchers -

I hope that you will join me in congratulating Ulrike Malmendier,
who has been selected as the 2013 recipient of the American Finance
Association's Fischer Black Prize. The prize is awarded to the person
under 40 whose work best exemplifies Fischer Black's hallmark of
developing original research that is relevant for finance practice. The
award citation referred in particular to Ulrike's work in corporate
finance, behavioral economics and finance, contract theory, and the
history of the firm, and noted the originality and creativity of her
research.

Ulrike holds dual appointments as a Professor of Economics in the
Department of Economics, and a Professor of Finance in the Haas School
of Business, at the University of California at Berkeley. She is a
Research Associate in the NBER's Corporate Finance and Labor Studies
programs. Many of her papers have appeared in the NBER working paper
series.

     All best wishes.

Jim
