Dear Research Colleagues -

     I am writing to call your attention to this year's TIAA Paul A.
Samuelson Award Competition for Outstanding Scholarly Writing on
Lifelong Financial Security.  This prestigious award, which includes a
cash prize of $10,000, honors the first American to win the Nobel Prize
in Economics.  Samuelson was also a Trustee of the College Retirement
Equity Fund (CREF).  The award will be presented at the annual meeting
of the Allied Social Science Association in San Diego, CA in January 2020.

     Submissions may be theoretical or empirical in nature.  They must
cover a subject directly relevant to lifelong financial security, and
have appeared in a book or article that was published between June 30,
2017 and June 30, 2019. Submissions must be postmarked by September 9,
