NIH has issued new R01 and R21 funding opportunities on "Prevention
Research in Mid-Life Adults." The proposals are due on the standard
dates (next up are: June 5 for R01s and June 16 R21s). No letter of
intent is requested.

The goal of these funding opportunity announcements (FOA) is to 1)
Identify the unique characteristics of mid-life adults that impact
health and wellness and contribute to the prevention of disease and
disability; 2) Identify characteristics, influences, and indicators that
are important for optimal health in mid-life adults; and 3) Develop
strategies that promote health and wellness and prevent illness in this
population.

For these announcements, NIA encourages "new data collection, novel
interventions, or secondary analysis of existing datasets, such as the
Health and Retirement Study or the Midlife in the U.S. (MIDUS) Study,
that contain rich data on adults in the age range targeted by this FOA."
