The NBER will host a free workshop on using Medicare claims data on
February 16, 2007 from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm at the NBER office in Cambridge,
MA. The goal of this workshop is to help investigators to understand and
use the full set of Medicare claims files and to give greater exposure to
ongoing research using the data. The session will take advantage of a
"training database" developed at Dartmouth College under the direction of
NBER affiliate Jonathan Skinner. The session will close with short
presentations by researchers of completed research or work in
progress. The workshop should be particularly useful to graduate students
and researchers in the health and aging fields who have never used CMS
data, or are just beginning. Attached is a more detailed workshop
description and instructions for free on-line registration. Thank you for
helping to spread the word to graduate students or fellow researchers who
are potential users of Medicare claims data in their future research.
