Dear Research Colleagues -

One of Marty Feldstein's most important contributions to economics was
his leadership of the NBER.  He virtually re-invented the organization
when he became president in 1977, and his three-decade presidency
witnessed the launch of the Summer Institute, the rapid growth of the
NBER Working Paper Series, and an extraordinary array of NBER research
projects.  To celebrate Marty's role at the NBER, I hope that you will
join me at 4:30pm on Thursday, July 25, in the ballroom at the Royal
Sonesta Hotel.   Speakers with a range of NBER connections will recall
this aspect of Marty's career.  This gathering will be followed by a
short reception. At 6:00pm, Kate Baicker, the Dean and Emmott Dedmon
Professor at the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy,
will deliver this year's Martin Feldstein Lecture. Her topic will be
"Economic Analysis and the Advance of Evidence-Based Health Care Policy."

On Saturday, September 14, 2019, Harvard University will host a memorial
service for Marty at 1:00pm in Memorial Church.  All are welcome to
attend; further details will be available from the Harvard Economics
Department.
