Dear friends and colleagues, sorry for this mass mailing, but last year I received several requests after the fact lamenting that I did not let the NBER community know about this opportunity. As such, here is the announcement for this year.
I am happy to announce the second annual Summer Institute in Field Experiments (SIFE), to be held at the University of Chicago on July 17-21, 2016.
SIFE aims to invite the brightest 20 young scholars in the world and 20 organizations interested in using rigorous field experiment methods and behavioral economics to revolutionize the way they operate. The objectives are to train the scholars in the field experiment method, position them for success by providing connections within organizations, and use the institute as a catalyst for field experiment research. The first edition of SIFE was a huge success, and generated several research collaborations between organizations and scholars.
As part of the institute, scholars will sit in on lectures from leading economists on the best practices of field experimentation. Then, scholars will receive real-world problems, which have been submitted to us from organization partners, and will spend the week developing proposed testable solutions. At the end of the institute, scholars and organization partners will work together to carry out the proposed research projects.
* Who is eligible? Advanced PhD students (within 2 years of obtaining Ph.D.) and junior faculty will benefit from the institute. In addition, senior faculty who are wishing to expand their area of expertise to the field experiment methodology and looking for organization partners can benefit.

Deadline for application submission is March 10, 2016. While all applications received by March 10, 2016 will receive full consideration, the earlier you apply the more likely it is that we will be able to "match" you with a partner.
* Will travel be covered?
We will provide some travel funding to invitees. The institute is funded by a new grant we have received from the John and Laura Arnold Foundation and co-hosted by the Science of Philanthropy Initiative.
