Dear NBER Family, Board, and Staff Members -

I hope that you will join me in congratulating two NBER researchers
who today were honored by the American Economic Association.

Amy Finkelstein has been named this year's winner of the John Bates
Clark medal. The prize citation highlights Amy's wide-ranging work on
insurance markets, particularly her work on asymmetric information in
the markets for health insurance, annuities, and long-term care
insurance. It calls attention to her analysis of the welfare
implications of insurance market imperfections as well as her
investigations of how public policies affect insurance market outcomes.
Amy is a Professor of Economics at MIT and one of the co-directors of
the NBER's Public Economics Program. She is also a member of the Aging,
Health Care, and Industrial Organization programs.

Lars Svensson of the Institute for International Economic Studies
at Stockholm University (and the current Deputy Governor of the Sveriges
Riksbank) has been named a Foreign Honorary Member of the AEA. He is a
Research Associate in the International Finance & Macro, Asset Pricing,
Monetary Economics, and Economic Fluctuations & Growth programs.

     All best wishes.

Jim
