Dear NBER Family Members -

The NBER Summer Institute will be starting in just over two months,
and I look forward to welcoming you to Cambridge. We once again plan to
invite graduate students to the Summer Institute on a space-available
basis. Since several Summer Institute meetings are approaching the
space constraints at the Royal Sonesta Hotel, we ask that potential
student participants be nominated by an NBER affiliate, and that their
participation be approved by the program director who will be overseeing
the Summer Institute sessions that they would like to attend.
Participating students are invited to join in Summer Institute lunches,
but they will need to cover their own travel and lodging expenses.

If you have a student who you feel would benefit substantially
from attending this year's Summer Institute, please send a "nomination"
paragraph to your Program Director no later than Friday, May 21. Space
constraints may make it impossible to accept all nominations, but we
will do our best to be as inclusive as possible. If we need to ration
places, priority will be given to students who are completing their
Ph.D. this year, or who will be completing their studies next year.
Students who are selected to participate in the meetings will receive
invitations from the NBER conference department in early June.

Thank you for your help in making the Summer Institute an
exciting and vibrant gathering. All best wishes.

Jim
