Dear Family Members -
I am looking forward to seeing many of your next Thursday, July
24, for the celebration of Marty's tenure as NBER President. The
gathering will be at the Hotel Sonesta, and it will be a bit more formal
than other Summer Institute activities -- recommended dress is business
casual, not "Summer Institute casual."
I am also writing to enlist your help in preparing one of our
gifts for Marty. Some of you may know that Marty enjoys cartoons - and
we have commissioned several that we will present to him next Thursday.
(This is a SURPRISE - please don't tell him!) For one of the cartoons,
we thought it would be fun to let the NBER family suggest captions -- I
will read a few of them (with attribution unless you tell me otherwise)
at the party. I have attached the drawing to this email. Please send
your suggested captions to Gerri Johnson at gjohnson_at_nber.org. Thank
