Dear Family Members,
I wanted to let you know of 2 upcoming NSF deadlines:

The first is the prestigious NSF CAREER grant. A link to the CAREER
program is here: http://www.nsf.gov/pubs/2008/nsf08557/nsf08557.htm

I have included a short description as well:

CAREER: The Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Program is a
Foundation-wide activity that offers the National Science
Foundation's most prestigious awards in support of junior faculty who
exemplify the role of teacher-scholars through outstanding research,
excellent education and the integration of education and research
within the context of the mission of their organizations. Such
activities should build a firm foundation for a lifetime of
leadership in integrating education and research. NSF encourages
submission of CAREER proposals from junior faculty members at all
CAREER-eligible organizations and especially encourages women,
members of underrepresented minority groups, and persons with
disabilities to apply.

The deadline for the CAREER proposal is July 24, 2008. Please note
that you must be an assistant professor in a tenure track position in
order to apply. Associate professors and those who have received
tenure or a previous CAREER grant are not eligible to apply.

The second upcoming deadline is for the Economics Program, which is
August 18, 2008. PIs are required to complete the following sections
-- a 1 page project summary, a 15 page project description,
references, and a 2 page CV, as well as a form for current and pending support.

All proposals are submitted electronically, through Fastlane
(www.fastlane.nsf.gov). Please do not hesitate to contact me if you
are interested in applying for either deadline, or if you have any questions.

Thanks,
Alison
