Macroeconomics Across Time and Space: Call for Papers

Jeremy Greenwood (UPenn and NBER), Lee E. Ohanian (UCLA and NBER) and Peter
Rupert (Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland)

A new EFG working group on "Macroeconomics Across Time and Space" has been
recently approved by the NBER. The aim of the group is to bring together
the large number of researchers in aggregate economics using modern dynamic
theory to investigate substantive historical questions. These questions
range from, but in no way are limited to, the study of great depressions,
to industrial revolutions, to the diffusions of new technologies, to
secular shifts in hours worked and leisure, to long-run trends in marriage,
women's labor supply and fertility, to the impact of institutions on
economic growth, to the rise in urbanization, to the growth and location of
business, to the
westward expansion of the United States, to analyses of free banking, and
to medieval monetary economics. We welcome all submissions that blend
dynamic economic theory with questions of long-standing interest.

The inaugural meeting will take place at the Federal Reserve Bank of
Cleveland on May 18th and 19th. Those interested in presenting at the
conference should submit a pdf file of their paper on the conference web site.

The deadline for submission is April 8th. No submissions will be considered
after this date. Do not reply to the above inactive email address. If you
have any questions, please contact Peter Rupert at confer@clev.frb.org.

Please feel free to forward this announcement to all those who might be
interested.
