Dear Board and Staff Colleagues -
I am delighted to share the news that former NBER board member and
Research Associate Cecilia Rouse, who recently completed a term as chair
of the President's Council of Economic Advisers (CEA), has been named
the next President of the Brookings Institution. Ceci will be a
wonderful leader of this venerable institution. She brings a
distinguished record of research accomplishments, successful academic
administration (most recently as dean of Princeton's School of Public
and International Affairs), and dedicated public service, including two
tours of duty at CEA, to this new leadership role. I hope that you will
join me in wishing her well in this exciting new position. The
