Dear Colleagues,
Thank you for your swift response to my message yesterday. I am writing to
provide additional clarity to the web vs. unix account passwords.
-
Your web account, which gives you access to MyNBER and admin/tools, can
be accessed using either your web or your unix password. As staff have
both, this is understandably confusing, but staff do not need a web
password because the unix password can do the same and more.
-
Going forward, please use your unix password to access MyNBER. If you
are already logged in, you can remain so regardless of how you logged in.
-
If you changed your web password, please make sure it is NOT the same as
your unix password.
-
If you have not changed your web password, there is no further action
required. IT has secured the staff web accounts a different way in light
of the ongoing investigation.
I apologize that this is confusing and appreciate all the great questions
that came to us today. Please email it-support_at_nber.org if we can be of
further assistance as you secure your accounts.
Best regards,
Erin Richardson
