Hello Flu clinic clients,
Flu shots are apparently not immune to the manufacturing shortfalls that
everything from furniture to lumber is experiencing right now. The hospital
shipment of single dose syringes of flu vaccine has been delayed by a few
weeks. LUCKILY, our pharmacy was able to secure delivery of multi-dose
vials of flu vaccine, so there will be NO delay in clinics. But there is a
change in the type of vaccine we will provide. It is still the Afluria from
Seqirus and is quadrivalent and latex free vaccine (vaccine info is
attached). There is a preservative in these vials though, so we need to ask
about allergy to Thimerosal on the consent form (this type of allergy is
*very* rare). I have updated the consent form with this question, as well
as the new vaccine info. Please distribute this to all your employees
getting flu shots (even if you already sent out the previous version). Each
nurse will bring a few single dose syringes for the people with allergies
to Thimerosal.
