10:19:28 From Lita-NBER Staff : Welcome to the Summer Institute 2020 HF Workshop 10:47:57 From Lita-NBER Staff to Stephen Zeldes(Privately) : Can you make me a co-host as well? 10:48:24 From Stephen Zeldes to Lita-NBER Staff(Privately) : just did 10:48:35 From Lita-NBER Staff to Stephen Zeldes(Privately) : Thank you 10:53:41 From Rob Shannon to Lita-NBER Staff(Privately) : are you muted? 10:57:52 From Lita-NBER Staff to Rob Shannon(Privately) : Great. Thank you 13:13:16 From Paul Goldsmith-Pinkham : Question to the panel: it seems like we have to think about this as more “insurance” than as “stimulus” (to map to Raj’s point about the broken Keynesian cross). Can we measure exactly how well the insurance is working? E.g. variance in consumption (modulus the restrictions due to social distancing, etc.) at the individual level? I worry about the aggregates dollar-weighting in a way that under-emphasizes inequality. 13:14:18 From Jialan Wang : I have a question to Niels 13:14:20 From Nate Vellekoop : Question to the panel: what do we know about arrears in rent and mortgage payments? There is the suggestion that households are postponing housing payments 13:14:28 From Damon Jones : I have the same comment at Paul 13:17:16 From Felipe Severino : The idea of the stimulus payment was to help the economy. But, I think also, avoid people going out of their way to keep their income stable( going to work on lock-downs) has anyone look at the correlation of the stimulus with the number of cases? 13:19:04 From Scott Schuh : Regarding cash, currency in circulation increased 7-1/2% from mid-March to end of June (42% annual rate relative to 6% trend). Did anyone see this in data, like ATM withdrawals? Can anyone tell whether cash spending went underground, or whether it is precautionary saving (level of CPI is declining)? 13:21:24 From Sean Higgins : Question for Raj 13:22:42 From Adair Morse : I have a question 13:23:04 From Jialan Wang : Hard agree with Raj - We need to look hard for the under-observed households. 13:26:50 From Bronson Argyle : Totally agree 13:33:50 From Paul Goldsmith-Pinkham : One quick comment if we have time 13:34:01 From Nathan Blascak : question for Jialan 13:35:08 From Sheisha Kulkarni : Question for Damon 13:46:46 From Paul Goldsmith-Pinkham : In NYC, this data is interesting: https://streeteasy.com/blog/data-dashboard/?agg=Median&metric=Asking%20Rent&type=Rentals&bedrooms=Any%20Bedrooms&property=Any%20Property%20Type&minDate=2010-01-01&maxDate=2020-06-01&area=Flatiron,Brooklyn%20Heights 15:17:51 From Lita-NBER Staff to Adair Morse(Privately) : Please make me the Host before the end of the meeting so that I can stop the live stream when it is time end the meeting. 15:27:59 From Lita-NBER Staff to Adair Morse(Privately) : Thank you 15:34:23 From Mark Iwry : can't find link in chat 15:35:42 From Bronson Argyle : https://nyu.zoom.us/j/93265374645?pwd=Q0FXNHNGMXJXSkgrcXgxWWZzNVl6dz09 Meeting ID: 932 6537 4645 Password: 914062 https://zoom.us/j/93293536815?pwd=bkkwcGwvSVRIam1XVDB5Wm1nVzc4dz09 Meeting ID: 932 9353 6815 Password: 001543 https://berkeley.zoom.us/j/99652759751?pwd=Qy9VVDZGRWNTNVg2WFUybWo4Yk9ZUT09 Meeting ID: 996 5275 9751 Password: 882023
